![]() ![]() At first, I don't think I quite understood the beer's name, but it's coming together now. Worth it in the end, I think, as there's a strength to how approachable this feels. ![]() Very good balance that definitely took some finagling. Gotta hand it to them, this definitely feels like a less-bitter DIPA considering the 9%/69 IBU figures provided. It's worth the patience.įeel is soft, rather pillowy and gentle with a calm carbonation and less-than-bitter approach. As such, I recommend letting this one sit for a few minutes before truly delving into it. Surprisingly so, even, considering I had contemplated docking it for some strange flavors I noticed upon initially pouring it it came across far too dank and "green" when I first got it into my glass but it seems to have cleaned itself up over the course of twenty or so minutes. Caramel and toffee notes from the malt combine with pine resin, juicy citrus and mango sweetness before collapsing in a very concise manner. Palate is similarly diverse but surprisingly drinkable, with passionfruit again taking the lead, some of the sweet pineapple mentioned on the label and the pine from the nose taking the reins up front before a wash of lightly-carbonated, viscous and ethanol-forward maltiness carries into a brittle, dry finish. Surprisingly, it all seems to congeal well enough to make this a delightfully-aromatic beer overall. Definitely has a complex, interesting nose with some bright and unique combinations of notes I recognize from other bigger DIPAs all kind of thrown together. Seems mildly sugary, though, bearing a definite influence from the current rash of juicy IPAs (without actual fruit added, mind you). Nose alternates between catty/dank notes, pine resin, heavy passionfruit/grapefruit, orange marmalade and honeyed maltiness. Seems not only is this a nimble giant, but humble as well given its solid, no-frills look. Nothing wrong with this one, if appearances are to be trusted. ![]() The translucence of the beer has some definite allure to it, in my opinion, and the lacing is certainly indicative of a solid hop component. Pours a somewhat heady golden yellow color with some solid body haze and a fairly retentive bone-white head that leaves sheets of lace in the glass. ![]() Regardless of these tidbits, let's see how the Tröegs brothers' entry into the pounder-can DIPA realm fares. Amazon and Meta both unveiled new rounds of cuts in March.Huh, this seems like a strange "once-a-year" candidate to me, and being advertised as only 69 IBUs in a big ol' 9% beer comes across to me like they may be appealing to "juicy New England style IPA" sensibilities, though the description on the side of the can puzzles me with allusions to "earthy forest floor". Nearly half of those cuts came in the months of November and December, led by massive reductions at Amazon, which cut 10,000 employees, and Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, which cut 11,000 employees. Employers feared high inflation and multiple rounds of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve could throw the economy into recession. companies between June and December, according to Forbes’ tracker. employees affected by cuts at more than 120 large U.S. companies ranging from tech startups to manufacturers, retailers and banks conducted a series of major layoffs last summer-with nearly 125,000 U.S. labor market still managed to add 199,000 jobs in the month of November. Contraĭespite massive layoffs continuing at many large companies well into 2023, the U.S. layoffs over the first three months of 2023-more than the previous two fiscal quarters combined, led by massive head count reductions at Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft, according to Forbes’ tracker. That’s how many employees were cut in major U.S. April 3 Hyland Software, the developer behind process management software OnBase, announced plans to cut 1,000 employees-roughly a fifth of its workforce-and reassess job responsibilities, as CEO Bill Priemer said the Ohio tech company “did not anticipate the degree to which inflation, rising interest rates and wage increases would impact our expenses.” Big Numberġ36,000. ![]()
